Hong Kong English


Just for laughs! This sure is funny! Enjoy! Btw, i believe a somewhat similar column appeared in the economist some years back under their "travellers' tale column". There's a slight variation in this piece. For those of you residing in Hongkong, can you verify this is so??
Room Service (RS): "Moling! loom sirfesee" (Morning! Room service)
Guest (G ): "Yes......"
(RS): "Dju witch true odor somefing??" (Do you wish to order something
(G ): "Uh..yes..I'd like some bacon and eggs"
(RS): "How July it done peace?" (How do you like it done please?) (G ): "What??"
(RS): "How July it done?... Fi, boy?" (How you like it done?... Fried, Boiled?)
(G ): "Oh, the eggs! How do I like them? Sorry, scrambled please."
(RS): "Howbow bkan?" (How about bacon?)
(G ): "Crisp will be fine."
(RS): "O light. An some DOS?" (Alright. And some toast?)
(G): "What?"
(RS ): "Dosee. July some DOS?" (Toassst. You like some toast?)
(G ): "I feel really bad about this, but I don't know what 'Door-C' means."
(RS): "Mmm...............Toes! toes!..." (Mmm..............Toast! toast!...)
(G ): "O, you mean Toasts!....No, do you have something else?" (RS): "Howbow ink-ga-nutsu mudfun?" (How about English muffin?) (G ): "English muffin!! I've got it! Yes, an English muffin will be fine."
(RS): "Copy?" (Coffee?)
(G ): "Sorry?"
(RS): "Copy...Mill...all T?" (Coffee...Milk...or Tea?)
(G ): "Yes. Coffee please, and that's all."
(RS): "O light. Seeangle ache, quits bkan, DOS, mudfun and copy..wite??" (Alright. Scramble egg, with bacon, muffin and coffee...rite?)
(G ): "Well....Whatever you say"
(RS): "Fanquevallemud!" (Thank you very much!)
